The much anticipated Mizo Academy of Letters (MAL) Book of the Year 2020 was officially announced today. 'Enge I Zawn?' an insightful work of cultural criticism has been selected as the MAL Book of the Year 2020.

The prestigious MAL Book of the Year is currently the most revered book award in Mizoram since its inception in 1989. B. Lalthangliana's 'Ka Lungkham' was the first book to receive the award. This year's Book of the Year will be awarded to the selected author at the MAL Annual convention at Synod Conference Centre on 18th December, 2021. The award will be given by L Thangmawia, MLA and Vice Chairman of the Human Resource Development Board. 

Rema Chhakchhuak is a linguist and a writer. He received his Ph.D degree from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in 2007. He has presented several papers on Mizo language and culture in seminars, workshops, webinars and conferences. He is currently residing in New Delhi with his family. His first book, 'Mingo Phurrit', was also among the selected top 3 for the 2019 MAL Book of the Year. 'Thingserh' by F. Vanlalrochana and 'Khuarei Sulhnu' by Bualhranga sre among this year's MAL Book of the Year top 3.
