Fire broke out last evening as locals were siphoning oil off an overturned tank lorry, causing four deaths and grave injuries to several people in close vicinity.
As of today, all the bodies have been identified and claimed by their respective families and have been transported to Civil Hospital, Aizawl for autopsy.
The lorry is presumed to be IOC property and abandoned by its driver off the highway leading towards Tuirial Airfield.
Aside from the lorry, the fire also completely decimated one LMV and three motorcycles.
