Mission Veng, arguably the oldest residential locality in Aizawl, celebrates their Quasquicentennial (125th) Anniversary with the unveiling of the 125 Monument and community programme.
"Mission Veng is home to numerous renowned figures in the history of Mizoram, older figures like Rokunga, PS Chawngthu, Rev. Liangkhaia, Muka, Ch. Pasena and younger popular figures like Dr. Laltluangliana Khiangte, Dr. Hrekima etc."
The four month-long anniversary celebration kicked off earlier in September, followed by various YMA inter-section sports activities with a few more coming up in the next two months.
As part of the ongoing celebrations, a public exhibition was held earlier this week, displaying the locality's historical artefacts and photographs; a lot of which also constitutes a sizeable chunk of the history of Aizawl. The celebration is tentatively planned to close with "MSV Nite", an open air function in December.
