A building structure in Lengpui Airport, Aizawl which is currently under construction has collapsed earlier this evening at around 4:30 PM. According to reports, teo construction workers at the site have suffered several injuries. Details of the accident have not been disclosed.
The ongoing construction work at the state's only airport is being taken up by Mr. Zoramchhana, Electric Veng Aizawl and KR Construction owned by Kamlova Chhangte who has become a controversial figure after it came to public knowledge that his name was 'Kamrul' before acquiring an ST Certificate in Mizoram. The airport construction work started in April 2021 and since then, the nature of the contract work and the current contractors have become controversial topics in the public talk and queries were also raised in the recent state Assembly session.
