After the state government called off the one month long total lockdown in the state, Mizoram reports 1468 positive cases in the last 24 hrs, marking a new record in Covid-19 cases.

Out of the 1468 new cases, 681 are reported to be symptomatic while 764 are asymptomatic and 23 cases remain unknown. A total of 12315 samples were tested using different test kits. 314 samples were tested using RT-PCR at ZMC lab, 1095 samples with RAgt while 47 samples were tested with TrueNAT and 12 with FIA. 

Apart from the increasing public activity after the end of the month long total lockdown, the new record is also partly due to the extensive mass testing  conducted in the different districts of Mizoram- Aizawl, Lunglei, Lawngtlai, Champhai, Kolasib and Serchhip district.

The new record has brought the number of active cases to a staggering 11414. Mizoram is currently one of the worsr hit regions in the North East.
