On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day this year, Mizo IPS Officer David Lalrinsanga received the prestigious President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Along with Lalrinsanga, 87 other police personnels from different states were awarded the distinguished service medal.

David Lalrinsanga is currently the Special Commissioner of the Delhi Police and has done commendable services for the people, particularly for the North East community in Delhi.  In December 2021, he was appointed as Inspector General for Border Security Force (BSF) on deputation for a period of 5 years under Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt.of India. While serving as the Joint Commissioner of Police at Delhi in 2018,  the ‘Special Police Unit for North East People’ (SPUNER) was set up where he was appointed as the Unit Head along with Hibu Tamang, IPS . The special unit played valuable role in providing security and safety to Northeast people in Delhi. 

Under his leadership, Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) trained 9,80,456 women & children, which was recorded in the Limca Book of World Record.

The President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service is also awarded to Lalrinthanga Ralte, MPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CID(SB). Three other police personnels from Mizoram Police- Thangzuala MPS, Principal (PTS), Lalrammawia, Inspector 3rd Bn. MAP and R. Vanlalruata, Sub Inspector, Police Radio Station Mamit- were also awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
