Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana paid a visit to the mobile i-Lab today at Lengpui. The i-Lab is a rapid response mobile laboratory where RT-PCR tests for Covid19 are conducted. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐳𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢-𝐋𝐚𝐛.

The mobile van, worth Rs.1.5 crore, was presented to Mizoram by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt.of India on 20 January, 2022. According to reports, the i-lab is still yet to be used in its full capacity and that a number of equipments still need to be bought in order to utilise the lab to the full extent. 

The state government of Mizoram have made an agreement with the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development. The agreement states that materials and equipments necessary for the mobile I-lab and the salary of the lab's Senior laboratory technician, one Data Entry Operator and one Driver will be paid by the Institute after which the state government of Mizoram will take over the salary payment and all financial matters.

In today's Lengpui visit, the Health Minister was accompanied by Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, Family Welfare Board Vice-Chairman, Dr H. Lalchungnunga Director, DHS,  Dr. Pachuau Lalmalsawma, SNO (IDSP) and microbiologists from ZMC.
