Mizoram hits another record: 2223 new Covid positive cases detected

As cases continue to rise rapidly throughout the country, Mizoram hits a new record today with 2223 new positive cases detected. 

1803 samples were tested positive with Rapid Antigen Test while 298 samples tested positive at the RT-PCR Lab at ZMC, 66 samples with TrueNAT and 56 with FIA.

Among the new samples tested positive, 1223 showed symptoms while 580 remain asymptomatic. The overall positivity rate stands at 24.15%. With this new figure, the total number of active cases in Mizoram is 10703.

According to medical experts, no Omicron variant has been detected in Mizoram but the state's Covid statistics have been showing a rapid increase since the New Year, especially in the rural areas where many villages are currently declared as Restricted areas and Containment zones.
