The General Body Meeting of Mizoram State Sports Council (MSSC) held at Hawla Indoor Stadium approves Mizoram Cycling Association( MiCA) as the 33th Sports Association under MSSC.
The General Body Meeting was conducted by Robert Romawia Royte, Minister of Sports and Youth Services. At the meeting, the Annual Program of MSSC 2022-2023 was laid out and an estimate budget of Rs. 1,107.55 lakh has been approved for the year 2022-2023.
Mizoram Sports Awards was approved unanimously with an aim to promote better sportsmanship in the state. The award will be presented to excellent sportspersons with a cash incentive award and athletes representing and winning on national levels will be presented this award. MSSC (Procedure for Management of Assets) Regulations,2022 and MSSC (Formation and Functioning of District Sports Committee) Regulations, 2022 was both approved at the Committee.
Mizoram Cycling Association (MiCA) has organised successful events in the past years in order to promote cycling in the state. In October 2021, the association organized Tour de Hmuifang in collaboration with Mizoram Tourism Department and a Mountain Bike Race competition in 2019. Members of the association have also participated in the Cycles4Change Challenge, a national event organised in 2020. MiCA has also conducted an Anti- Drugs Awareness Cycle Rally on March 2022 in collaboration with Excise & Narcotics Department.
