C. Lalawmpuia, a cyclist from Dawrpui Aizawl who has taken up the daring challenge of covering 1574 kms from Aizawl to Kolkata on his bicycle finally reached his destination city, Kolkata yesterday. The Mizo cyclist left Aizawl at 5:30 PM on 26th January, 2022 from Aizawl to Kolkata with several stops in between. The journey took him 15 days (100 hours) during which he covered 1574.42 kms.
A successful businessman with a fervent interest in the cycling sport, Lalawmpuia is also the current Vice- President of Mizo Cycling Association and he has taken up this tough challenge in order to promote adventure sports among the youths in Mizoram and encourage them to take up big challenges in and beyond the state and to prove the message that "Mizos can also achieve what others have achieved."
The cyclist left Aizawl on 26 January 2022 on his cycle, bringing along with him few camping and survival kits. Making one night stops in Silchar, Shillong, Guwahati and Siliguri, Lalawmpuia survived the road by depending on whatever roadside shops he could find on his way and his packed food. He reached Kolkata on the 15th day of his departure from Aizawl.
