After detecting 38 new positive cases yesterday and 48 today at Lengpui Airport along with the continuous rise in numbers within the state, the Chief Secretary of Mizoram and Chairman of State Executive Committee, State Disaster Management Authority Dr. Reenu Sharma has issued new guidelines to be enforced in the State of Mizoram with effect from 08.01.2022 till the midnight of 31.01.2022.
The new SOP comes with more stringent restrictions regarding public gatherings and social functions. Church services will now be allowed only during the day time and congregational singing is now being restricted. Public places like parks, picnic spots and theatres will be closed including beauty parlours, spas and gyms.
In the case of educational institutions, the SOP also states that schools and hostels for students of class I to IX and class XI shall remain closed. Classes shall continue to be conducted in online mode. Classes in all Colleges and Institutes of higher education/ Universities are to be conducted online.
Currently, Mizoram stands at 2767 positive cases with 555 deaths. Several villages within the state have also been declared as restricted areas.
