More than 100 police have been tested positive upon their return from duty in West Bengal.

 

Mizoram police who were deployed on duty for the recent State Assembly election in West Bengal returned on 27th April, 2021. Swab samples of the returnees were immediately taken by the medical authorities at Vairengte. The state government, with the help of medical staffs, are taking full precautions at the state entry point.

 

The police personnels who returned from the election duty were immediately put under quarantine in Police Training School (PTS) at Thenzawl while some returned to their respective battalions for quarantine. 

 

Swab samples were taken by Rapid Antigen Test at PTS yesterday and 64 out of 263 have been tested positive with half of the positive cases showing Covid-19 symptoms. Samples were also taken from 91 police personnels from the 4th IR Battalion at Rengdil and 39 samples tested postive. This brings the total of positive case among the Mizoram police to 103. More test results are expected today.
